ACHIM MENGES

Professor Achim Menges, born 1975, is a registered architect and professor at the University of Stuttgart, where he is the founding director of the Institute for Computational Design and Construction since 2008. Achim Menges practice and research focuses on the development of integral design processes at the intersection of morphogenetic design computation, biomimetic engineering and computer aided manufacturing that enables a highly articulated, performative built environment.

EVY SLABBINCK

Evy L. M. Slabbinck is a structural engineer and architect working for more than a year at Design-to-Production Zurich, and is responsible for International Sales and Project Development. She is currently also teaching Structural Design at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. Previously she was a Research Associate and tutor at the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design at the University of Stuttgart, where she currently finishes her PhD under Prof. Dr.-Ing Jan Knippers.

METTE RAMSGAARD THOMSEN

Mette Ramsgaard Thomsen's research centres on the intersection between architecture and computer science. During the last 15 years her focus has been on the profound changes that digital technologies instigate in the way architecture is thought, designed and built. In 2004 she completed an interdisciplinary PhD in architecture and computer science, and in 2005 she founded the Centre for IT and Architecture research group (CITA) at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, Design and Conservation.

CHRISTOPH GENGNAGEL

Christoph Gengnagel is professor for structural design and engineering at the School of Architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts. He studied structural engineering and architecture at the Bauhaus University Weimar and the Technical University Munich, where he earned his PhD in 2005. He is co-founder and director of the Hybrid Plattform – a transdisciplinary research unit between the UdK Berlin and the Technische Universität Berlin. He is a partner at Bollinger + Grohmann.

ALEXANDRE DUBOR

Alexandre Dubor is an architect expert in digital and robotic fabrication currently working at IAAC as researcher, teacher and project manager in R&D. He studied architecture and engineering (March. ENSAVT / ENPC, March. IAAC) and have worked in the past at Studio Libeskind, Atenastudio, iDonati, AREP and Appareil. He’s a multidisciplinary designer exploring the potential raised by digital tools and new materials for the improvement of the built environment. He is now leading the OTF: 3D printing Architecture program as well as the Master in Robotic and Advanced Construction at IAAC.

TRISTAN GOBIN

Tristan Gobin is a Director and VP of Construction Automation at HAL Robotics. Alongside his graduation as an Architect (MArch distinction) Tristan has led several architectural robotic workshops at the ENSAPM, the ENSA-Grenoble, the ENPC and the UCL-Bartlett School of Architecture since 2012. He is now a PHD Candidate at GSA and is pursuing his research work combining mathematics, mechanics and architectural design with a special interest in robotics, haptic systems and kinetic architecture. He is in charge of the robotic introduction at the ENPC and the Navier Laboratory.

LOTTE ALDINGER

Lotte Aldinger is a structural engineer with a primary interest in the structural design and the formation of shell structures with informed fiber layouts and shapes by employing computational design.She holds a master of science with distinction from the ITECH master program at the University of Stuttgart. Lotte received one of ETH's Architecture & Technology PhD Fellowships and joined the Block Research Group in October 2019. Her work focuses on exploring the potentials of bending-active tensile formwork for shaping nonstandard concrete structures.

STIJN BRANCART

As an architectural engineer and doctor in engineering sciences, Stijn Brancart has expertise in architecture, structural design and more specifically circular and transformable structures. At VIBE vzw he currently works as an expert in circular construction, providing guidance, support and education to building professionals and thus working towards the transition towards a more environmentally conscious, healthy and circular construction sector and economy. For this he relies on his past work on projects like the European Buildings as Material Banks (BAMB) and the Circular Retrofit Lab.

SOME PEOPLE Kiki Goti

Kiki Goti is an architectural designer and educator based in NYC. She is the founder of the design studio SomePeople, which focuses on the integration of emerging technologies in architectural design and construction. Currently, she is serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt SoA and Adjunct Faculty at NYIT. She received her MSc in Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH) from the Institute for Computational Design (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart and a Diploma in Architecture from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

SOME PEOPLE Erik Martinez

Erik Martínez is a licensed architect in New York State. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute in 2010 and an MSc in Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research from the Institute for Computational Design at the University of Stuttgart in 2016.He worked in North America and Europe in the offices of TEN Arquitectos in New York, and at HaasCookZemmrich Studio 2050 where he has lead winning competitions and projects in Germany. He is currently an associate architect at SHoP in NYC.

GILLES RETSIN

Gilles Retsin is an architect and designer living in London. He is Programme Director of the M.Arch Architectural Design at UCL, the Bartlett School of Architecture. He is also co-founder of the UCL Design Computation Lab, which does high profile research into new design and fabrication technologies. He is also co-founder of AUAR ltd ( Automated Architecture) a design-tech consultancy based in London. Gilles Retsin won 1st place in the competition for the main installation of the Tallinn Architecture Biennale.
